The Canadian Ben Cooper didn’t let anyone steal the spotlight at the start of the DD2 prefinal after getting away quickly from the Belgian Xen De Ruwe and Canadian Nicholas Latifi. Simon Wagner was 4th, Cody Hodgson 5th, and Kevin Lüdi 6th. Latifi attacked De Ruwe who retaliated. Wagner then tried his luck without success. Latifi dropped to 10th place. Cooper parted company with his competitors: 1.1” in the lead on lap 6, De Ruwe also gained a little space in front of the pack which was also lively fighting for third position. Lüdi of Switzerland was holding the position so far ahead of Wagner, Mathias Detige and Hodgson who was overwhelmed by lap 8. Miika Laiho was also worth watching, in seventh from 20th place at the start.

Positions appeared to be stable at the front even though De Ruwe closed back up on Cooper, leader of the race, to the point where he crossed the line on the bumper of the winner. Lüdi lost his 3rd place in favor of Hodgson, Ensbey was 4th, Laiho 5th, Detige 6th.
