U18, prefinal 2: Mortensen wins, Leclerc fifth from the back

In principle the race is more animated because of its inverted grid, the Prefinal 2 was not up to its reputation in Bahrain. Most favourites were clustered at the back of the grid, who were at full throttle by making a little space before the acceleration line. We were immediately in full fight. Collard, Ruud Kjaer and Rocard did not last a lap. Anthoine Hubert’s (Formula K) fight for the title underwent a virulent attack and had to return to the pits after just two laps. Sergio Lopez Bolotin (Parolin) retained the lead until the seventh lap when Gregory Antonov (MS Kart) passed him.

Meanwhile, we had to watch the screen. The highest recovery was from Charles Leclerc (ART GP) who entered the top 10 on lap 6. A chasing pack consisted of Sam Webster (ART GP), Ben Barnicoat (ART GP), Joseph Mawson (Top Kart), Federico Savona (Top Kart) and Henry Easthope (Sodi) between positions 16 to 20.

In the lead, Martin Mortensen (Formula K), Seva Gagen (Parolin) and Ville Mäntylä (Energy) put pressure on the leaders. Leclerc continued his incredible run and finished 5th after starting in 26th position. Mawson was 11th in front of Barnicoat, Amweg and Webster. 16th place for Easthope, Savona 18th, Graham 23rd. Mortensen won ahead of Gagen and Mäntylä.
