Race 2 in the Academy Trophy began with a deplorable first lap, apart from for stock-car enthusiasts. It was impossible to count the threats and clashes. Maslennikov, Gill, Torregiani and Merilhat retired, Lappalainen dropped to15th, Russell and Ellegard dropped to 20th and 23rd before dropping a few laps later. It was unworthy of a global competition.

Things calmed down later, but the damage was done. Thomas Bale was leading the race with a remarkable Erwan Julé at his heels, ready to attack on the last lap. He resisted the temptation and took a simply superb second place on the podium in the Trophy final. Martijn Van Leewen securely held third place throughout the race, followed by Lina Von Schvedin in her fastest race of the season, while Benjamin Lessennes finished in a good 5th place.

Behind, the battle continued, but Joonas Lappalainen made a big recovery to 6th position to show that he is not by chance the Trophy winner. Adeline Prudent gave everything and manages to take 7th place that was lost for a moment to Amaury Bonduel and Ellegard. After rough treatment this weekend, Javier Cobian finished 17th here but this didn’t stop him getting 2nd place behind Bale, the man of the day. After running in the top 10, Paolo Besancenez continued to lose ground to complete his ordeal in 19th position.
