IAME: an international sucess

Big numbers, spectacular races and great organization are the main features of the IAME International Final 2012. Dedicated to all drivers around the world who race with IAME engines, this first edition of the event attracted 173 drivers from 20 countries across four categories: X30 Junior, X30 Senior, X30 Master and X30 Shifter, plus another 15 in the category TTI Carbone, powered IAME.

X30 JUNIOR
Result pending and title not assigned: in the final Bollier (Kosmic) is first at the checkered flag ahead of Sette Camara (Art GP), but the Frenchman’s last-corner pass over the Brazilian is judged incorrect and earns him a penalty. Title to Sette Camara? No, Bollier appeals and the standings gets “frozen.” Closing behind the two, come Andlauer (Intrepid) in 3rd, then Bonduel (Art GP), best “Lady” of the race Adeline Prudent (Tony Kart) and the Argentine Femestranz (Tony Kart) 6th . In the prefinal Bollier closes 2nd, but a penalty for early start places him 15th (great rebound in the final); Darras (Tony Kart) is 1st at the finish. In the final he starts up front but has to retire following a contact that damaged his rear bumper.

X30 SENIOR
A full field with 88 verified drivers: the strongest turns out to be Jules Gounon (Sodi). After ruling the prefinal, the Frenchman starts the final in top spot, but Fraysse (Tony Kart) doesn’t want to give up and snatches the lead, with Gounon and Garcia (Intrepid) glued behind. Behind the leading trio, the heat is on between the Kosmic duo of Heron and Carpena. At lap 15 Gounon passes, Fraysse holds on and Garcia drops back. Then comes an accident at three laps from the end (over 22 total) and, under “Slow” procedure, drivers cross the finish in pairs: Gounon wins ahead of Fraysse and Garcia. Carpena (Kosmic) is 4th, then come Gadois (FA) and Milla (Praga), both on a great rebound (from 16th and 14th)…
