The young Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua concluded in beauty his first season in KF2, with some remarkable performances at the WSK Final Cup, a season end classic that brings together the best specialists of the category. Vivacqua, who is now fast and self-confident, took the second step of the final podium at Castelletto, a well-deserved achievement that came to reward his evident progress over the last few months.
He appeared to be in top form already during timed qualifying, setting the second fastest time in his series, just 0.1 seconds behind Monegasque champion Charles Leclerc. Then he achieved the least positive result of the weekend in the first qualifying heat: despite a good start from 4th place, his kart did not allow him to keep the pace of his rivals and he finished 10th. Then he constantly recovered ground up to 7th and then 2nd, behind the wheel of his powerful Zanardi/Parilla.
Completely at ease in the final phases, he climbed first up to 5th in the pre-final and then he launched an uncompromising attack at the start of the final. Second after the 4th lap, he maintained the pace while his opponents ran out of steam while trying to catch him. The leader had taken a good lead on the first laps, so Vivacqua could not catch him, though he was very happy with his second position finish.
