CRG Wins the World Cup for KZ2 with Lennox-Lamb

Despite a few minor problems in KZ1 that kept Thonon and Forè away from the fight for the title, CRG left Sarno with the huge satisfaction of a world victory in KZ2 conquered by Lennox-Lamb, behind the wheel of his CRG propelled by a Maxter engine prepared in-factory. Overall, performances shown by CRG drivers were very convincing at all levels.

When he started the season, Jordon Lennox-Lamb did not think he could win the World Cup on his first year in the 125 gearbox class. But during the season he demonstrated on several occasions that he had the potential to succeed thanks to his indisputable ability on the attack. The British driver – second at the end of the qualifying heats and third in the pre-final – was one of the favourites at Sarno. When the incredible Max Verstappen (CRG/TM) was forced to stop after a collision at the start of the final, Lennox-Lamb seized his chance. He was the leader from the beginning to the end and concluded with a lead of over 2 seconds that says a lot about his speed. On his debut in KZ2 in CIK, Felice Tiene (CRG/Maxter) was simply impressive, with his third fastest time in timed qualifying and his three victories in the heats. He lost some ground in the pre-final owing to a collision, but then he caught his rivals with the fastest time in the final and ended in 8th position, just behind Alfredo Delli Compagni (CRG/TM) and ahead of Marcel Müller (CRG/Maxter), who made CRG the best represented brand in the world top 10 with as many as 4 drivers in the first 9 positions.

Jonathan Thonon was not able to add another victory to his impressive list of honours in KZ1 owing to a cooling problem (pierced radiator) during the pre-final, while Davide Forè was stopped by his clutch. But the two champions were totally at ease, as demonstrated by their brilliant catch up drive in the final race. Thonon set the third fastest time and climbed up from 29th to 7th place, while Forè moved up from 34th to 11th. Their results under different circumstances can be easily imagined. Fabian Federer, who was both regular and fast, crossed the finish line 9th.
