The news resounded like a clap of thunder in the paddock, causing many angry demonstrations. The spending, sometimes significant, by the teams to ensure compliance with the limit of 108 dB has gone up in smoke, especially as most competitors have changed to emergency classic silencers, probably with better performance, but in any case noisier.

The main argument from the stewards is the unfairness of the proceedings in the heats and races. Some drivers can not be adequately measured by their position in the pack and no noise value can be attributed to them. The commissioners are not convinced that the noise measurements recorded are a basis for the just application of penalties for the competitors.

Accordingly, after an international discussion in the presence of Vice-President of the CIK-FIA, Mr. Van De Grint, the Commissioners decided not to punish the noisiest karts and cancel all penalties previously applied.
