Anthoine Hubert (Formula K) started on pole for the final of the U18 World Championship at Angerville and took his place in a very good start from the majority of participants. Hubert Petit (Sodi) remained in the wake of the leader, while the outside line started slower. The Russian Seva Gagen (Parolin) soon passed Petit to gain 2nd place. Federico Savona (Top Kart) shortly after took 3rd position, Ricky Collard (ART GP) was 5th, Charles Leclerc (ART GP) ahead of teammate Ben Barnicoat in 6th. Matthew Graham (Zanardi) was eighth. Henry Easthope (Sodi) lost time, but was still very fast in 10th place ahead of Thiago Vivacqua (Zanardi) who started 5th.
Hubert greatly increases his lead over Gagen, no doubt reassured by the performance of his engine which had been swapped at random at the start of the race. He achieved the fastest time for example on the 12th lap. Gagen, who was hounded by Savona, Petit who was closely watched by Collard and Leclerc who was now running with these drivers. Martin Mortensen (Formula K) and Joseph Mawson (Top Kart) were running in around 15th position. Collard passed Petit, then Leclerc managed a superb attack on the French driver. Collard rightly felt threatened by Leclerc and hit the gas, hoping that he could probably dislodge Savona from the 3rd step of the podium.
But the positions didn’t change until the triumphant finish of Anthoine Hubert, winner of the weekend. There was a beautiful 2nd place for Federico Savona following the exclusion of Seva Gagen who was underweight, Collard 3rd, Leclerc 4th, Petit fifth despite attacks from Graham on the last lap, Easthope 7th, Tujula 8th, Barnicoat 9th and Schandorff (Formula K) 10th.
