8 Alpha Jet Patrol France are expected in the sky over Angerville at 11:40 Sunday, 26 August 2012 at the opening of the final stages of the CIK-FIA U18 World Championship. It will be a kind of homecoming for the acrobatic specialists of the Air Force, as their first flights were made in 1931 from the airfield near Etampes-Mondesir.

Stationed on the air base 701 Salon-de-Provence, the Patrouille de France is considered one of the best aerobatic formations in the world. During flight, the aircraft operate at speeds between 300 and 900 km / h. They are separated by about 2 to 3 m and subject their pilots to acceleration ranging from -3 to 7 g.

Used since 1981, the Alpha Jet is a small European twin-engine (2×1400 kg thrust) weighing 3 tons empty, can take off in less than 400 m and reach over 900 km / h. It consumes between 700 and 800 kg of kerosene per hour.
