Easthope still in control

Although the French driver Anthoine Hubert (Formula K) beat Henry Easthope (Sodi) in heat AD by winning on Sunday morning, the British driver kept his leading position in the standings in the U18 World Championship at Braga. The Dane Martin Mortensen (Formula K) is holding his firm to his second ranking ahead of the impressive Australian Joseph Mawson (Top Kart), Juho Valtanen (PCR) fourth, Georgy Antonov (MS Kart) who moved up from 26th in qualifying to 5th place, Ville Mäntylä (Energy) sixth, Jules Gounon (Sodi) and Anthoine Hubert, seventh and eighth, Marco Maestranzi (PCR) 9th, and the third French driver in qualifying, Hubert Petit (Sodi), 11th. Charles Leclerc (ART GP), despite an unfavorable starting position and constant worry, is back in the top 10 and hopes to find an improvement for the finals …

Among the drivers to watch for who can move to the top of the rankings include German Villanueva (Formula K) 16th, Ben Barnicoat 17th and Sam Webster 19th at ART GP, Vivacqua Thiago 21st, Henrique Chaves 21st and Matthew Graham 23rd despite a victory, all three on a Zanardi. Anyway, the two prefinals are coming up, with the second using the reverse order of the intermediate, raising possibilities of recovery and also unexpected drops – a whole lot of surprises.
