Russell currently dominating the heats at Varennes

After a hectic day filled with no fewer than 17 races, all dry, it’s time to take stock of the situation in the European KF3 Championship in Varennes using the unofficial Kartcom clipboard. Four races are still to run on Sunday morning, one for everyone except group F which still have two to go. This makes the standings on Saturday night slightly unbalanced for drivers in group F with a heat less than the others.

No driver has totally dominated the day with a perfect score. Nevertheless, George Russell (Intrepid / Vortex) is clearly in the lead with four wins and a 10th place ahead of the surprising American Santino Ferrucci (Energy / TM), while Dorian Boccolacci (Intrepid / TM) is in third position with his two wins, a feat for a driver who started from the 7th row each time. Very consistent, Marijn Kremers (PCR / Parilla) and Simone Cunati (Top Kart / Parilla) are in fourth and fifth places. Each winners of a heat, Nathan Aston (Intrepid / TM), Connor Jupp (Energy / Vortex) and Alessio Piccini (Kosmic / Vortex) are ahead of ninth placed Alex Palou (CRG / BMB), a three time winner, but who was 18th in his first race. Martin Kodric (FA Kart / Vortex) completed the top 10.

The list of disappointed drivers starts with Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla), in 23rd despite a victory, but with only four races contested. Valentin Naud (Formula K / TM) went very well on Saturday morning, first and third, before some issues surfaced and he is now 25th in front of Dorian Guldenfels (Sodi / Parilla) who has done well by finishing the day with fifth and third positions. Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) is only 30th in spite of good performances: his speed deserved better results, but ended on a high note with a second place. Starting at the front, Gautier Becq (Sodi / Parilla) achieved a third place, and ranks 35th. The Canadian Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla), well down in Qualifying, moved back to 37th, just ahead of Julien Darras (Tony Kart / Parilla) 98th in qualifying, and Dan Ticktum (Zanardi / Parilla), who had a retirement.

Gabi Aubry (Birel / TM) has recovered well after a difficult start, the 35th with fifth, sixth and seventh positions. Dalton Sargeant (Tony Kart / Vortex) is 47th, the poleman Giuseppe Gagliano (Kosmic / Vortex) 51st, Luca Corberi (Kosmic / Vortex) 57th …
