Verstappen from Leclerc in the KF2 Prefinal

Max Verstappen was at the top of the KF2 Prefinal: it was not a huge surprise. Behind him the battle raged between Karol Basz (Birel / BMB), Charles Leclerc (ART GP / Parilla) who was equally motivated, and Tom Joyner (LH / BMB). Kyrill Korolevskiy (Tony Kart / BMB) was distanced from the first lap. Anthoine Hubert (Formula K / TM) had a good start that saw him in eighth already. Leclerc seized second place on lap three, Basz was fourth ahead of Pavel Rudakov (Tony Kart / BMB) and Dennis Olsen (Energy / TM). Stefano Cucco (Maranello / BMB) Hubert took 7th.

The gaps widened markedly in mid-race, as is often the case when it rains. Verstappen had a 2” lead, but Leclerc didn’t slow the pace behind him. Joyner and Basz seemed firmly installed in third and fourth positions. Cucco attacked Rudakov, currently in fifth and Olsen was not far off. With two laps to go, Cucco and Olsen took Rudakov who slowed for a while.

It was an expected victory for Verstappen, with the equal fastest lap, Leclerc was second, a fast third for Joyner, Basz fourth, fifth Cucco and sixth Olsen.
