World KF1 Championship: entries are open until 23 March

The CIK-FIA Vice-President, Kees van de Grint, summarised the situation as follows: “I am very pleased that the World Council accepted all the proposals presented to them by the CIK Commission, especially those concerning the KF1 World Championship. Be that as it may, the number of entries so far registered does not yet reflect our expectations as regards either engine suppliers or Drivers, and this is why we have postponed the closing date of entries to 23 March. The system implemented offers to the Drivers every guarantee of sporting equity concerning engines.”

Amongst entered Drivers are the reigning “U18” World Champion, the Briton Matthew Graham (Zanardi-Vortex), and the third classified Driver in the 2011 edition of the World KF1 Championship, Italy’s Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex) – it is worth noting that the Champion and runner-up, Nyck de Vries and Alexander Albon, will henceforth continue their careers in single-seaters (Formula Renault).

Two additional 2011 race winners, the Pole Karol Basz (Birel-BMB) and Britain’s Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG-Maxter), will join those competitors in this Championship which will be held on the circuits of Varennes (28-29 April), Suzuka (19-20 May), PF International (21-22 July), Sarno-Napoli (1-2 September) and Macau (20-21 October). To the Drivers entered in all the rounds of the WKC will be added participants from the Asia-Pacific region, only for the Suzuka and Macau events.
