Al Ain: the Prefinals are complete

The four pre-finals of the Rotax Max Challenge 2011 at Al Ain began with the Junior category. Tadasuke Makino won the race by attacking on the last lap while Joseph Mawson in second, and Ukyo Sasahara, third were engaged in a tight battle throughout the pre-final.

In DD2 Masters, we saw another win from the unbeatable Cristiano Morgado. Long in third, Danny Brand (Belgium) passed for second at the end of the race from Dennis Kroes and Scott Campbell. The French drivers Guy Pansart, and William Berteaux in 7th and 11th drove widely while the unfortunate Franck Rouxel did not complete a lap.

Ben Cooper won on his own at the front of Max Senior from David Sera and Sean Babington, while Edward Brand and Hirotaka Sasaki long battled for fourth position. There was a boost for the French team with Alexander Finkelstein gaining 11 positions and finishing in the top 10 and Nicolas Picot finishing 22nd, 10 places better.

There was a big fight in DD2 between Pier-Luc Ouellette, the initial leader, and Jason Pringle and Jari Huttunen who exchanged the lead several times. But Ouellette retook the lead on lap 11 while his teammate Nicholas Latifi came back strongly to finish second ahead of Pringle and Huttunen. Maxime Gravouille, was eighth on lap 3 and then ended up 25th.
