There were three qualifying heats for the competitors to compete in the U18 World Championship on Sunday morning at Sarno. Although the rain had stopped, except for a few showers, the track was very wet. For most drivers, the hierarchy had not changed much.

Marco Maestranza (PCR) won the C / E heat from Pyry Ovaska (Maranello) and Raquel Martinez (Top Kart) who was particularly fast in these conditions. Stefan Riener (Intrepid) finished fourth from the Dutchman Joel Affolter (Sodi). Leo Roussel (Sodi) experienced a difficult start, then settled for 17th position.

Anthoine Hubert (Sodi) was under a lot of stress when the engine once again refused to start on the dummy grid. The FIM mechanics were busy for a long time and suddenly the starter did its job. Anthoine was just able to retake his place on the grid during the second lap. Matthew Graham (Zanardi) was alone in the lead while Henry Easthope (Sodi) faced Jorge Vinolo Zalduegui (Tecno). Hubert was able to go forward thanks to his speed in a straight line and took fifth on the last lap, behind Kasper Larsen (Haase-Corsa) and in front of his old adversary Niclas Nylund (Maranello).

The last heat took place in almost dark conditions and under heavy rain. The puddles were not small on the racing line and some drivers went through them at the expense of performance. Lap times were 1’50” early in the race. Finland’s Tomi Katajamäki (Maranello) did not fall into the trap and flew to 13” ahead of his pursuers on the line. Dave Blom (Intrepid) was in second, lost places and returned to the place ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR). The French driver Joffrey De Narda (Energy) was third for a while and finished in a fine fifth place. Pyry Ovaska (Maranello) rose from 15th to 8th position.
