Charles Leclerc was penalized by 10” for an overtaking move that was deemed too muscular, sp he was in 11th on the grid for race 2 and lost many points in the championship. Benjamin Barnicoat was now most likely to win the title. Race 2 at Sarno will be decisive. The track seemed to dry near the stands, but all the drivers, however, opted for wets except Ndrio. He would either go very quickly or not very far.

Barnicoat lost a lot of places in the first lap, in 24th after a collision, as did Dorian Boccolacci in 25th. Leclerc was back into fourth position. Marijn Kremers was leading for the moment ahead of  Simon Mirguet and Vesvolod Gagen. They then fell to the back of the pack, Mirguet lost places, Leclerc took second from Valtanen and Tkachenko. Kremers led by 3.3” Leclerc. Barnicoat was 19th on lap 3. Valtanen, the fastest, went into second position ahead of Leclerc and approached the leader with the same momentum.

Without delay, Valtanen attacked Kremers on the 5th lap and took the lead. Leclerc also may soon attack Kremers. Barnicoat peaked at the same time in 15th. Kremers passed Valtanen at the back, followed by Leclerc. The Monaco driver then attacked and took the lead on the seventh lap. There was sudden excitement at the beginning of the last lap, when Leclerc yielded to Valtanen, but returned immediately.

The suspense continued to the finish, but Charles Leclerc won the race, which should give him the title, from Valtanen, Kremers, Ellegard and Vivacqua. Barnicoat had to settle for 13th place.
