Charles Leclerc (TM) has clearly dominated the qualifying day in the Academy Trophy at Sarno, winning his three heats. He lost the benefit of his first win because of a penalty of a second for speeding, but nevertheless retains the top spot and will start on pole through Sunday for race 1 . He was not always fastest on the track, but he has very cleverly managed still to be in front. One cannot help thinking seriously about him for the title …

Second place is occupied by the Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua, entered the event following a withdrawal. The CIK and his country can be proud of this last minute choice. In a tie, Mikel Azcona (Esp), including winning the last heat, took third place, which should make him regret the three penalties in the first race he took for coming out of his lane too early at the start. However, he remains in the race for the title with his third place in the championship.

The British driver Benjamin Barnicoat, second in the championship, still has a good chance with his fourth place, while the Norwegian Martin Ellegard, also the winner of a race, is in fifth position. The Belgian representative Simon Mirguet has often been very fast, he is seventh. Lucile Cypriano had a very good run with speed and maturity to take 10th place, the top French driver at this time in the competition.

Dorian Boccolacci follows in 11th place after a disappointing qualifying and great racing, but lost places because of a penalty of 3” for early exit of his lane at the start. Max Defourny (Lux) showed a nice burst of speed and ends up on Saturday night in 12th. Randy Berglas (Swi) in 14th and Vsevolod Gagen (Rus) 15th both have raised their game and showed great potential in their final heat.
