Double for Anthony Abbasse at Essay

Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-Maxter) was the quickest at the lights. We thought that the Sodi driver wanted to get away and widen the gap, because he knew that his main opponent, Thomas Mich (Birel / Monza-TM), had new tires. Indeed, after a good start, Thomas soon came through the field. After a few laps, he had a trio of Sodi-Maxters in sight, namely, Alexandre Baron, Charles Fiault and Pierre Ragues. One by one, they had to give way, but Abbasse was way ahead with a lead of more than four seconds.

Mich was pushing in vain and set the fastest lap but Abbasse was imperturbable and won this last event of 2011. In second, Mich created the show and was worthy of the title of French Champion. Ragues successfully completed the podium despite the two Sodis of Baron and Fiault. Antony Tardieu was not unworthy, and took 6th place from Maxime Roy, who made a poor start, and Christophe Benoit. Maxime Loustaud concluded his week-end on a positive note with ninth place in front of Julien Goupy. Mantione Nolan gave up with seven laps to go.
