The WSK Master Series is drawing to an end in Viterbo with the crowning of the promising young talent in the international karting. This week, there will be the closing and fifth round for the five classes performing on the top Italian circuits over this long 2011 calendar.

Giovinazzi and Cucco at the tape in KF2. It has been an exciting season in KF2, which is the class where Antonio Giovinazzi from Taranto (PCR-Parilla-Vega) intends to duplicate his win in 2010. His main rival is Stefano Cucco from Biella (Birel-Parilla-Vega) who Giovinazzi himself snatched the leadership from to in mid-season. With a 32-length gap (there are still 85 points at stake) that separates each other in the ranking, both of them are ready not only for the final rush but also to counter other contestants that aim to achieve a second place at the Circuito Internazionale in Viterbo. At the top of the list there is Roman Alberto Di Folco and his fellow citizen Damiano Fioravanti (both on a Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), respectively third and fourth in the ranking.

KZ1 and KZ2 with De Conto and Zanchetta in the spotlight. The two classes with six gears namely KZ1 and KZ2, reach Viterbo with the respective leaders Paolo De Conto (Energy-TM) and Marco Zanchetta (CKR-TM) chasing the ultimate win. Both of them have been the main protagonists of a season that has witnessed the young Dutch Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM) back to the top places, thanks to a splendid victory in the previous round in Siena. The latter, in third place below Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex) in KZ1 ranking, is one of the most awaited drivers at the racetrack in Viterbo. In KZ2, the winner in the past round Daniele Delli Compagni (CRG-TM) is the best outsider.

Fuoco outdistances Hansson and Sylvest in KF3. With a win in both the previous two rounds in Val Vibrata and Siena under his belt, Calabrian Antonio Fuoco (Top Kart-TM-Vega) is the favourite in KF3 rush. However, two opponents to be feared are chasing the leaders; they are Swedish Robin Hansson (Energy-TM-Vega) and Danish Nicolai Sylvest (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), equal second below Fuoco in the ranking.

Haxhiu, Dionisios and Monger are the best of young 60 Mini drivers. By winning 60 Mini Final in the last two events, Swiss Gjergj Haxhiu (Hero-LKE-Vega) countered British Billy Monger (Birel-LKE-Vega) and Romanian Marcu Dionisios’ (Top Kart-LKE-Vega) success in the first two rounds. It may be easy to anticipate a victory in Viterbo for whichever of the above three drivers, the outcome is actually unpredictable considering the large numbers of drivers (as many as 90 drivers from 30 different countries) competing in this category.

Live from Viterbo on Rai Sport 1. The Finals in Viterbo will be brought live on Rai Sport 1, the same network that has covered the whole WSK season. The conclusive races in every class will be broadcast on Sunday 25 September from 12:45 to 02:00PM.

The results of today. In the official timing of today, Italian Daniele Delli Compagni (CRG-TM-Dunlop) and dutch Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) was the fastest in KZ2 and KZ1, with the best lap scored by Delli Compagni in 51”355. In KF2 young Thai driver Tanart Sathienthirakul (Tony Kart-TM-Vega) gained both pole position (52”543 his time) and the victory in the first qualifying heat. In this race Giovinazzi was 5th and Cucco 9th. The driver from Monaco Charles Leclerc (Intrepid-TM-Vega) was the fastest in KF3 with the time of 52”811, but British Callan Okeeffe (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) won the first heat, ahead of Swedish Robin Hansson (Energy-TM-Vega), Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco. The first protagonist of the 60 Mini was Turkish Berkay Besler (Top Kart-LKE-Vega), fastest in the official timing in 1’01”493. First winners in the heats of today was Romanian Marcu Dionisios (Top Kart-LKE-Vega) and Helvetic Gjergj Haxhiu  (Hero-LKE-Vega).
