Leclerc wins the World Cup for Monaco

There was heavy concentration on the grid for the KF3 final: Charles Leclerc (Intrepid / TM) was shot by photographers, Max Verstappen (CRG / Maxter) seemed quieter. Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) and Antonio ”Speedy” Fuoco (Tony Kart / Vortex) were on second row ahead of Callan O’Keeffe (FA Kart / Vortex) and Harrison Scott (Intrepid / TM).

Excellent start for Leclerc, followed like a shadow by Ocon, and Verstappen fourth. But Ocon took the lead before the end of the first lap with O’Keeffe and Verstappen third and fourth from Leclerc. However Ocon yielded in fourth place while O’Keeffe led. Fuoco was in seventh behind Scott.

Lap 4: Leclerc came back stronger and Verstappen went out onto the grass and fell to eighth. O’Keeffe dominated at the moment with a 1.4” lead on Leclerc, Ocon and Scott were overtaken by Mattia Vita (Birel / BMB). Leclerc came back to on the leader, and Scott and Vita held off Ocon. Verstappen lost more places, was 14th and eventually gave up.

Halfway, Leclerc was less than a second behind the leader, with the fastest lap and he continued p to up the tempo. He gained by two or three tenths per lap. On lap 10, Leclerc passes on the last right. O’Keeffe was well behaved, and did not block. Ocon was still in third position, 1” from Scott, Vita, Speedy, Oystein Helgheim (Parolin / TM) and Matthew Graham (Zanardi / Parilla). Valentin Naud (Tony Kart / Vortex) was in a nice 12th and was always pushing, as was Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB) in 17th.

Leclerc escaped irretrievably to victory. Ocon needed to watch for the return of Vita in the last two laps. He defended as much as possible by closing the doors on the last lap, but his pursuers attacked and he spun to finish 15th. Charles Leclerc won a superb victory in the World Cup, during an outstanding weekend! O’Keeffe finished second and Scott took third place ahead of Helgheim and Speedy.
