Italian podium in Race 3

Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) was swamped the start of race 3 of the KF1 World Championship at Sarno, Karol Basz (RK / BMB) started smoothly, Alexander Albon (Intrepid / TM) fitted easily in to second, De Vries had 8 drivers to pass. Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) lost time at the exit of the first corner. Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) quickly regained second from Albon, then the lead to the detriment of Basz. Albon recovered 2nd at the same time, but De Vries had already returned in the wheel tracks of Basz, in third.

Felice Tiene took fifth from D’Agosto, Leo Roussel (Sodi / Parilla) and Zdenek Groman (Kosmic / Vortex). De Vries retired on lap 4, suffering a mechanical problem. Camponeschi escaped far ahead, but it was heated in the pack. Tiene took second ahead of Basz, Albon, Roussel and D’Agosto. On lap 6, Roussel and Albon fell to 8th, apparently in the grip with steering problems after an attempted overtake that was too optimistic. Remy Deguffroy entered the top 10, Sébastien Bailly was in the top 5.

Camponeschi was nearly four seconds at the halfway point. Second place was not yet assured for Tiene who was followed closely by Basz. Despite everything the differences were significant between the competitors, and the race wasn’t very exciting, maybe KF1 is like F1… Basz and Albon were placed under investigation for the starting procedure.

On the finish line we saw:

1st Camponeschi

Tiene second by 1.747”

3rd Basz by 2.797”

D’Agosto 4th by 3.577”

Bailly fifth by 5.402”

Groman sixth by 8.422”

7th Toman by 9.625”

Albon eighth by 10.460”

9th Pakari by 15.945”

Kanamaru 10th by 18.268”

But on the podium, Camponeschi was on the first step, Tiene second and D’Agosto third, for a 100% Italian trio.
