It was a good start for Joey Hanssen (Lenzo / TM), but Kristijan Habulin (CRG / Maxter) managed to brake late and took the lead at the first corner. Weber Morgan (Merlin / TM) was trapped in the pack and lost places. Nicky Moris was severely affected in a crash  two turns later. Hanssen took first place to the detriment of Habulin who soon gave way to the onslaught of Yuri Lucati (BRM / Maxter) and Marvin Meindorfer (DR / TM). Yard Pex (CRG / Maxter) was fifth from Viktor Öberg (Gillard / Parilla), Jan Midrla (Birel / TM) and Weber.

Hanssen took off a second ahead of Lucati, closely followed by Meindorfer, Pex and Habulin. Fabian Federer (CRG / TM), coming up from 17th on the grid, entered the top 10 on the fifth lap, Mirko Torsellini (CRG / Maxter) advanced to 16th, Marco Zanchetta (CKR / TM) 17th and Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) 18th. Pex attacked Meindorf under braking by the grandstand for third position. Federer captured seventh place on lap 9. Torsellini and Johansson traded fastest lap times. Before the halfway point, Pex climbed to second position from Lucati but Hanssen had a 2.4” lead which seemed unassailable, especially as he was among the fastest on the track. Now Torsellini was in the chasing pack in 13th position, ahead of Johansson and Zanchetta. Federer again gained places to 5th position. Lucati was still third, under pressure from Federer who stole his position on lap 16. Torsellini just got into the top 10.

The gaps were now significant between the top 3, the order seemed fixed, except for any twists. Lucati had yet to resist Habulin in fourth place, while Weber took sixth. Federer passed Lucati on lap 20, Habulin also took the opportunity. Torsellini passed Weber and Johansson on the last lap. The fastest time of the race went to Torsellini.
