Albon takes solid win in Race 3

The two favorites in the World Championship KF1 were side by side for the start of Race 3 at Genk. The weather seemed to want to disrupt the afternoon and the track is now completely dry. However, The competitors as a whole continued to confuse karting and stock cars …

It was a confused start: De Vries was far ahead, but seemed to make a mistake at the first corner into the runoff. Albon was much faster and got going with 3 other drivers. Nyck kept going, he tried to maintain a good position, but spun on the lefthander below. Lennox-Lamb, Hubert and Lahaye remained on the sidelines. Albon thus led the race ahead of Bailly, Tiene, Basz, Kanamaru and Roussel. De Vries was at the back, again, in around 18th place.

Bailly then passed Roussel and Basz on lap 5. Albon had already soared to more than 3” ahead of Tiene, who was closely followed by Kanamaru, who was very fast. De Vries returned to 12th place, he was currently fastest. Réguillon and Lock retired. Albon set the fastest time, as if his lead was not sufficient. De Vries joined the trio of Deguffroy, Groman, and D’Agosto, running six tenths faster than them. Roussel did not resist the temptation to attack Kanamaru under braking, a maneuver that was wonderfully successful. With six laps to go, Albon was in the lead by more than 5”, De Vries was up to seventh, but Basz, in sixth was 3”in front of him. Bailly passed Kanamaru, Roussel approaches Tiene, would he be able to try? He must also be wary of the return of his pursuers.

Roussel attacked, but it was over heated, and Bailly benefited. But it wasn’t over. Basz attacked, Roussel lost places. De Vries took the opportunity to mingle with the fight. Bailly took off in second position, behind it was more uncertain. Tiene lost ground, Basz dropped back to 10th position, Roussel was able to take fourth from Camponeschi and D’Agosto. What a final! Masterful victory for Albon, Bailly magnificent a second and an extreme recovery with overtaking in another world for De Vries.
