KF3 title for Great Britain with Russell

French hopes were now on Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB), the winner of the pre-final. One could not help dreaming of a European title for the young driver from Gravity Academy … The answer would come at the end of the 15 laps of the final that was preparing to start.

They started. George Russell (Intrepid / TM) went over the line of the first lap well ahead of Robin Hansson (Energy / TM) and Harrison Scott (Intrepid / TM). Boccolacci was only fourth after a difficult start. Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) had made a good start, but then lost a lot of places. Moineault retired after Besancenez. Boccolacci in turn lost his chances on the second lap after a spin going through the dust: he was 24th.

Connor Jupp (FA Kart / Vortex), starting in 17th, grabbed third place ahead of Scott and Oystein Helgheim (Parolin / TM). Russell already had a lead of 3 seconds, and the insolent Jupp passed Hansson, but nothing was certain yet. Ocon came back strongly in 12th and took ninth on the seventh lap. Hansson recovered his second place to the detriment of Jupp. Etienne Mordret (Zanardi / Parilla) was having a great race in 15th position from 26th place.

The suspense was not maximum for the win. Russell would get to the flag unmolested by his opponents if all went well. Mordret got into the top 10 with 3 laps to go. Jupp did not release the pressure on Hansson for second place. Mordred was caught in the fight in the pack and had some contact while Boccolacci finished 10th, with the fastest lap, just behind his teammate Ocon. Max Verstappen (CRG / Parilla) took them out before returning to 14th.

George Russell was awarded the European KF3 title after leading the final from start to finish in front of Robin Hansson and Connor Jupp.
