Albon: first victory in KF1

In the first KF1 final, the audience was in suspense at the WSK Euro Series at La Conca. Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) started impeccably at the lights, but Alexander Albon (Intrepid / TM) led the first of 16 laps ahead of Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex ). Even worse on the following lap, De Vries was fifth after having to give in to an attack from Jordan Chamberlain (Intrepid / TM) and Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / TM). The young Dutchman made up a place on lap 3. Zdenek Groman (Kosmic / Vortex) was in sixth ahead of Chris Lock (Tony Kart / Vortex), Karol Basz (RK / BMB) and Mark Litchfield (FA Kart / BMB).

De Vries’s equipment came on gradually, as it often does, and he set the fastest lap on lap 5. Chamberlain was passed next. In the lead, Albon pushed to get a sufficient lead, but the race was not won yet, although he was more than 3 seconds ahead of the threat from De Vries. Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) was within the top 10 with convincing times. For now, it was D’Agosto is in the crosshairs of Nyck. 1.3”, 0.9” and 0.6” – the Zanardi was closing on the Tony Kart by 3 or 4 / 10 on every lap. Albon kept a large gap and now had a good chance of winning, especially as he remained the fastest in the race.

With two laps to go, De Vries was on the bumper of D’Agosto. But the Italian held off the Dutch driver, who did not take unnecessary risks.

Albon’s victory rewarded the excellent performance of Intrepid from the beginning of the competition. D’Agosto was second, third was De Vries. Lock grabbed fourth in front of Chamberlain, Groman, Pakari, Basz, Toman and Bailly.
