Benett_Race1_Most.jpgUK’s Gavin Bennett (Anderson-DEA) won Race 1 of the second round of the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship at Most (CZE). Starting from pole-position, the reigning Champion got more resistance than expected, firstly from compatriot John Riley (Anderson-FPE), who covered the first lap in the lead, then from Championship leader Emmanuel Vinualès (Anderson-DEA). The young Frenchman was still leading halfway through the race, but lost pace afterwards due to tyre wear, to the point that he also had to bow in front of Dutchman Marcel Maasmann (Anderson-FPE) in the very last corner. Maasmann, who had started from position 12, managed an impressive recovery and set the fastest lap in the race.

Carl Hulme (Anderson-FPE) and Laurent Marchandise (PVP-FPE) completed the Top 5, in front of Daniel Hentschel (Anderson-DEA), Malcolm Crowe (Anderson-DEA), Adam Kout (MS Kart-VM), Vesa Lehtinen (Anderson-FPE) and Erik Martin Gjertsen (PVP-PVP).

Race 2 will take place on Sunday at 12.50.
