Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) did not start as fast as Pedro Hiltbrand (Kosmic / Vortex) which was surprising for a pole-sitter, and found himself sixth. Alex Palou (FA Kart / Vortex) overtook Hiltbrand with a hard line and took the lead, but his start seemed unclear. There was talk about a problem with the lights.

Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla), was fourth and already fighting for 3rd position. Darius Oskoui was right in the depths of the pack. Besancenez crashed and dropped to 32nd position on the 2nd lap. Ocon fast attacked the leaders, now third, followed by Benjamin Gerard (Tony Kart / Vortex), Kevin Lavelli (Top Kart / Parilla) and Hubert Petit (Sodi / Parilla). Ocon set the fastest time and was close enough to attack Hiltbrand at halfway and took 2nd place. Palou ran away in the lead by more than 3 seconds.

Determined, Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB) was as consistent as he was quick, 6th to 9th in 17 laps. The gaps stayed stable at the front of the race. Gerard was 4th and Boccolacci 5th, 6th was Gil and Petit 7th. Gerard took the advantage over Hiltbrand with 3 laps to go but he replied 2 laps later and it wasn’t over. Gerard attacked on the last corner of the last lap to clinch a superb third place. 4th and 5th were Hiltbrand and Boccolacci in the wake of the two drivers, but unfortunately too late.

Alex Palou wins Southern Europe Trophy in KF3, Esteban Ocon was on the second step of the podium without falling from grace and Benjamin Gerard, in 3rd was is his finest performance to date.
