Damiano Fioravanti (Tony Kart / Vortex), 8th in timed practice, opened the scoring in the KF2 qualifying heats with a victory in heat A / C, ahead of Giuliano Niceta (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Paolo Ippolito ( Kosmic / Vortex), just to show that the Italians did not come to Varennes for nothing. Thomas Krebs (Birel / BMB) appeared as one of the fastest Germans in 4th from Enzo Guibbert (FA Kart / Vortex).

The scene was repeated in the next heat, B / D, in terms of nationalities in the standings. Indeed, Francisco Abreu (Tony Kart / Vortex), winner on the track, was excluded afterwards for taking out another driver. So Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR / Parilla) won the race ahead of teammate Marco Maestranza.

As one of the undisputed favorites, Victor Sendin (Tony Kart / Vortex) started his day by retiring at the start of the heat C / E, with a broken clutch. Fioravanti took advantage to clinch a second victory from Krebs and Alberto Di Folco (Tony Kart / Vortex). Victor Compere (FA Kart / Vortex) took 6th place.

Enzo Guibbert dominated unchallenged in the A / D heat, but received a 10” penalty because of his start, which put him back to 13th position. Giovinazzi had the opportunity to regain the lead ahead of Ippolito and the excellent Nicolas Gonzales (CRG / Maxter) who has technical assistance from Kozlinski. Pascal Belmaaziz (DR / Parilla), Andrea Pizzitola (FA Kart / Vortex) and Freddy Martins (RK / TM) took the 4th, 5th and 6th places.

Victor Sendin had the knife between his teeth in the D / E heat, the next after his misadventure. He dropped all his opponents and finished nearly 3” in the lead. He then received a penalty of 10” for his start and fell to ninth, handing the victory to Loris Spinelli (Top Kart / Parilla) from Adrian Del Rio (Birel / Parilla) and Gerard Barrabeig (Birel / BMB). Gonzales finished 5th.

Guibbert won the A / B heat from Abreu and the German driver Marvin Kirchhof (RK / BMB) who made a very good comeback. Belmaaziz took 5th position, Antoine Lepesqueux (Sodi / Parilla) 7th. Fioravanti found a new dominance after a great start in heat C / D, while Krebs and Giovinazzi took the following places from Spinelli. Pizzitola had a technical problem on the first lap and gave up.

Sendin, highly motivated shall we say, began heat B / E at full throttle and did not let anyone deny him victory. Abreu, Rio, Barrabeig and John Filippi (exprit / Vortex) were right behind throughout the race. Sendin was 2.7” ahead on the line from Barrabeig, Del Rio, Abreu, Filippi and Kirchhofer, again climbing well.

Damiano Fioravanti won his fourth straight win in heat B / C thanks to an excellent start. Vincent Fraïsse (Intrepid / TM) found the performance he needed to secure qualification. 3rd on the 1st lap, he claimed second at the checkered flag. Beautiful duel for 3rd place between Kirchhof and Rafael Aguiar (Intrepid / BMB) before the flag fell. Stefano Cucco (Birel / Parilla) finally returned to the top 10.

Sendin didn’t get his way this time. Guibbert was the first lap leader in A / E but had to fight against Del Rio and Barabeig. Fillipi was fourth but a recovery for Sendin was irresistible. At the front, he controlled Barrabeig to the end. Belmaaziz did not finish the race.
