It was not a surprise to find Nyck De Vries top of the ranking after the heats in KF1 this Saturday at Portimao. The performances began against the clock and set the tone in SuperPole. The Zanardi / Parilla driver won both races with ease, leaving his opponents tearing into each other behind him.
Chris Lock and Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) took one second place each, but D’Agosto’s 4th place gave him 2nd position in the standings, while Lock was 6th. The consistency of Zdenek Groman (Kosmic / Vortex) gave him third place ahead of Libor Toman (Birel / BMB) and Yu Kanamaru (Tony Kart / Vortex).
Briton Mark Litchfield and the combination of FA Kart / Maxter remained in the shot with 7th position before Alexander Albon (Intrepid / TM) who was relatively unobtrusive. Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) was delayed in heat 2, while Alex Baron (Sodi/Parilla) cleverly put himself in 11th place. Several top drivers have dropped into the pack for the lively start in final 1.
