Ocon resists Palou in the KF3 prefinal

The KF3s opened the running with their first pre-final. 34 drivers took to the track, and the race would be at least as warm as the temperature at Varennes, which was saying something. A headstart for Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) followed by Valentin Moineault (Sodi / Parilla), but a large crash immobilized much of the peloton. The red flag waved in the blue sky of the Auvergne.

The race resumed after the prefinal for KF2. Esteban Ocon kept the lead with difficulty initially and Besancenez got locked up, Moineault also lost places trying to take the lead a the first hairpin. Alex Palou was is in second place followed closely by Simon Tirman (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Benjamin Gerard (Tony Kart / Vortex). Fran Rueda was 5th ahead of Besancenez, Boccolacci and Moineault. Ocon dominates with a solid lead of almost 2” on the 4th lap. Tirman was in second, while Besancenez was chasing Palou. Moineault also tried to get back to sixth.

Palou retook second place from Tirman and Rueda, in 4th heading the chasing pack made up of Besancenez and Gerard. Moineault went off the track. Pierre Loubet (Sodi / Parilla) cleverly took 7th, far behind Valentin Naud (Tony Kart / Vortex). Palou gradually came back to Ocon, could he stay ahead ahead? It was too early to tell. On the last lap, Ocon was just two tenths ahead of Palou. Esteban blocked to protect his position and narrowly won the race ahead Palou, Tirman, Rueda, Besancenez, Gerard, Naud, Loubet and Thomas Landais.
