WSK Nations Cup: The game starts with qualifying

Because our flight was delayed due to snow in Milan, the KSP / Kartcom team qualifying of the  Nations Cup hosted by the WSK at Muro Leccese. A quick tour of the paddock, however, allowed us to get some idea of the day at La Conca. The meeting was held in dry weather, but wet tyres were needed on the wet track. The site is decorated in the colors of the new partner of the event, gaming site betitaly.it.

In KZ2, the Tony Kart / Vortex again demonstrated the potential of the 2011 chassis with Rick Dreezen on pole. Marco Ardigo was disqualified for being underweight. Another Tony, one of the Swedes Tobias Nilsson who was 2nd in front Sauro Cesetti (Birel / BMB), whereas in the absence of Jonathan Thonon, the Bulgarian Mishel Giorgiev was 4th for CRG. Gianni Gazzurelli confirmed his good form, and also a new diet, with 6th.

The Tony Kart family took the 5 top places in KF2, Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) in the lead ahead of Chris Lock (Tony Kart / Vortex), Jacob Nortoft (FA Kart / Vortex), Stepan Karasev and Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex). Then came four Birel / BMBs, starting with the 6th placed Jordon Lennox then Lars Sorensen, Gerard Barrabeig and Jordan King. Pascal Belmaaziz (DR / Maxter) was 22nd. Victor Sendin (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 28th, Enzo Guibbert (FA Kart / Vortex) 31st.

Although Max Verstappen (CRG / Maxter) remains the leader in KF3 with his pole position, the French have excelled in second position for Esteban Ocon (Intrepid / TM), and Victor Compere and Hubert Petit (FA Kart / Vortex) of 2G Racing Team in 3rd and 5th places.

Among the young people of the very international 60 Mini, two Italians were at the front, Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / LKE) and Giovanni Sportelli (Intrepid / LKE) from the Romanian Petrut Florescu (Lenzokart / LKE) and Britain’s Samuel Priest (Tony Kart / LKE).

With its 197 drivers present, from 35 nations and 5 continents, the WSK Nations Cup deserves its name. See you on Saturday morning without fail for the qualifying races that are likely to be wet in the afternoon.
