First time on the Monaco Kart Cup circuit, at the wheel of a 125cc gearbox: that is definitely something of an experience. And that is exactly what Beitske Visser enjoyed at the wheel of her Intrepid/TM KZ2, and with panache, too. She was able to race on equal terms with the specialists of the category, who are much more experienced than she is, on a really difficult track where no mistakes are allowed.
After a good start in her second qualifying heat, Beitske could even afford the luxury of doing better than her illustrious team mates, Bas Lammers and Jérémy Iglesias, who are the undisputed reference points in KZ1. 7th in the provisional standings, Beitske could not exploit that advantage during the pre-final, which was interrupted by a heavy shower of rain. The final started when rain tyres where stilly needed, which did not fit in very well with the setup of her chassis. In addition to that, a spark plug problem caused a power loss in her engine and she could not keep a regular pace. Even though she deserved to defend her chances and achieve a better result than her 13th place, Beitske left Monaco with a big smile and a feeling of “task completion”.
