Slight advantage for Tiihonen

A mixture of rain and sun accompanied the start of the first heat for the Academy Trophy which also saw a Finn on pole alongside Switzerland’s Sevrin Amweg, and French driver Anthoine Hubert was in 3rd position. The outside line that started better, but Anthoine Hubert, 4th at the first corner, took the lead before the end of the first lap ahead of Charles Leclerc and Niklas Tiihonen. He was not slow to attack Leclerc to steal second place.

Hubert stretched out a small gap but Tiihonen quickly returned to attack the leader. He overtook on the 6th of 8 laps. Leclerc took the opportunity to close as well. Amweg was 4th by 1.5”. Hubert unsurprisingly attacked on the line, but Tiihonen prevailed despite him.
