AVG Racing showed good team work at the KZ1 World Cup in Braga. Despite the presence of two experienced drivers like Manuel Renaudie and Simo Puhakka, young Dylan Davies found his pace and perfected his training at the highest level. Even without TM official engines, Dylan fought hard to exploit his PCR chassis at best on his first race in KZ1. He accomplished his mission thanks to top level performances, sometimes even doing better than his team mates as with his 6th place at the end of the heats. 5th in the pre-final behind Renaudie, Dylan can be proud of his Portuguese weekend; he also became the darling of the public for his sense of attack and daring braking moves!
«I am really impressed by Dylan’s progress», said the boss Anton Van Grunsven. «We take good care of our young talents here in AVG and we are very satisfied with the results we are achieving. It is extremely encouraging».
It must be said the PCR chassis showed top performances on the difficult Braga track, and despite very high temperatures. The technical staff quickly found the right setup and victory was never very far. However, a few small problems weighed heavily on the overall performance at the end of the meeting. Simo Puhakka was the first victim. He could not finish timed qualifying and slipped to last place in the qualifying heats. Then it was Manu Renaudie’s turn, who broke the engine while he was in the lead of the second heat. Fully satisfied with their equipment, AVG drivers have begun to enjoy defending their chances until the very end. Manu made every possible effort after he regained 3rd place in the pre-final, but tyres did not support him in his battle and he had to content himself with 4th place in the final standings. Simo fought hard and managed to go as high as 7th place.
«Overall AVG team’s results are very encouraging» Manu Renaudie commented. «All three of us were very competitive and victory was within reach. I would have liked to be on the podium, sure, but the whole team showed great performances and this is what really matters».
