U18 D-5: EduKart

The organisation of an educational programme was included in the very first project which led to the creation and launching, by the FIA World Council on proposal of the CIK, of the new “U18” Karting World Championship and Academy Trophy.

This programme, called EduKart, is supported by the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Sustainability, within the framework of the FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund. It is presented as a quiz (game) accessible on touch-sensitive terminals.

At each event of the “U18” Karting World Championship and Academy Trophy, Friday morning will be dedicated to this EduKart programme, and all the Drivers shall participate in the quiz. They will have to demonstrate their assimilation of the topics treated by answering a multiple-choice questionnaire. Ten out of the twenty questions or so submitted to them prior to each event will be randomly selected by a specifically developed pedagogi- cal software.

This pedagogical programme will in particular broach on topics related to safety, the knowledge of the technical and sporting rules, fair-play, the patrimony and history of Karting and the anti-doping fight. At the end of the season, the CIK-FIA will place this edu- cational programme at the disposal of all the ASNs members of the FIA so that they can introduce it in their national competitions.

In each category (“U18” and Academy), the three Drivers who achieve the best EduKart results will be summoned to mount a podium especially organised on Sunday afternoon, to be honoured and rewarded.
