Suninen, Moller-Madsen, Gatting, the front of the grid KF2 had a strong Nordic taste. And it was confirmed on the first lap when Teemu Suninen (Maranello / Maranello) retained the lead ahead of Nicolaj Moller-Madsen (Energy / TM), Michelle Gatting (CRG / Maxter) and Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex). Luke Varley (Tony Kart / Vortex) was fifth ahead of Denis Dupont (Tony Kart / Vortex), Niklas Brinkmann (Zanardi / Maxter) and Karol Basz (RK / BMB). One reason for their strength was the inevitable stampede at the first corner. Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) dropped to 20th, Giovinazzi was already eliminated. Bailly moved to attack Gatting, then he was third, chasing Moller-Madsen while Suninen has built up a small lead.

Lock retired and also Basz a little later. Gatting was now under threat from Varley. He passed on lap 6 and Brinkmann took the opportunity at the same time. The positions were stable at the front: 7 / 10 between Suninen and Moller-Madsen, 4 / 10 to Bailly. In 13th De Ridder set what would remain the fastest lap of the race.

Now Dupont and Klinkby-Silver passed Gatting, in 8th. D’Agosto was back up 13th place, but he was then stalled in 14th. Gatting’s ordeal continued, she lost more places. The top four drivers were spread out, and there wasn’t likely to be a change. Dupont led the chasing pack ahead of Joyner and Klinkby-Silver, Birkmann and Kanamaru.

Victory went to Teemu Suninen after a rather monotonous race, Moller-Madsen second and Bailly third. Then came Varley, Dupont, Joyner … Some drivers may have been trying to preserve their tyres for the far more important final. Møller-Madsen let Bailly through to offer him the front outside line, but the Belgian politely declined the poisoned offer.
