With its Dutch and French drivers, AVG Racing Team is already familiar with the different European components. In Varennes, the team had to measure up against participants in the European KZ1 and KZ2 Championships, the best drivers in these two categories.

An experienced driver, Manu Renaudie is the spearhead of the team. Generous with advice for his younger team mates, he does not forget, however, to fight tenaciously when he is on the track. 3rd in KZ1 timed qualifying, unfortunately he suffered a mechanical problem in the first qualifying heat and then had to content himself with his spare engine, which was not equally fast. Despite all that, however, he climbed to fourth place in Race 1 and finished sixth in the next race. But he is convinced that the driver and equipment deserved more that a fifth place in the European Championship standings.

Dylan-Davies-KZ2.jpgOn his first season in KZ2, Dylan Davies showed impressive progress, especially during the two races on Sunday. After a penalty in the first race, he gave it all and managed to gain 10 places, going up to 12th place, in the second race. Fast, but still lacking a bit of experience, Maikel Van Grunsven went very close to qualification in the final, just like his fiery team mate Menno Meijers. As for Théodore Zammit, he reached that goal after a series of excellent performances during the heats. Unfortunately, their races ended in retirements.

Here is the analysis made by the boss, Anton Van Grunsven: “We hoped we could reach a higher level of competitiveness in Varennes, but the sudden heat wave interfered with our adjustment job. Manu was on in it, as usual, and without that mechanical problem, he could have fought for victory. However, we were able to register some information that could be useful for the rest of the season, which makes us really optimistic “.
