The WSK World Series at Portimao (Portugal) has already started. Because of the WTCC, the timing of the karting event karting has been advanced a day to allow everyone to watch the car racing. The drivers had time to try out the long and fast new Portimao circuit, newly built in the surroundings of the motorsport complex.

Although recently laid, the asphalt handled the rubber with increased grip levels. The wind blows regularly in Portugal, sometimes strongly. The fewdrivers going off  the track usually result in a large plume of fine dust. It is difficult to get an opinion on the track for now. The drivers seem to enjoy it, noting the need to defend, but there will be more spectacular racing. Stay tuned. The entry follows the current trend, unfortunately, with 109 drivers for the four categories.

In qualifying the regulars are already ahead with the pole in Super KF going to Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex) in 54 710 in front of Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla). Ben Cooper (Kosmic / Vortex) finished third from Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter) and Sauro Cesetti (Birel / BMB).

Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) set the fastest lap of KF2 (55,797) ahead of the amazing Sébastien Bailly on a Kosmic / Vortex. Luke Varley (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished third, Michelle Gatting (CRG / Maxter) 4th and Karol Basz (RK / BMB) 5th.

The results were more surprising in KF3 with the domination of Damiano Fioravanti (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 57,512. Robert Visoiu (Tony Kart / Vortex) in second place before Max Verstappen (CRG / Maxter), Christian Sorensen (Bierl / BMB) and Pedro Hiltbrand (Kosmic / Vortex).

The American Gary Carlton (CRG / Maxter) did not take long to get back into European competition and set a noteworthy 54,078 which earned him the pole in front of Rick Dreezen KZ2 (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jonathan Thonon (CRG / Maxter). Beitske Visser, both the only girl and the only representative of Intrepid set the fourth fastest time and Roberto Toninelli (Lenzo / LKE) 5th.
