Lammers dominates Iglesias in Race 1

The tension was palpable on the starting grid for Race 1 of KZ1: Iglesias, Abbasse, Lammers, Mich, the competition will be intense. It was a perfect start for Abbasse, followed by Iglesias and Lammers, Renaudie was strong and Mich moved to fourth. The latter resumed his place on the next lap while Iglesias hauled in Abbasse and took the lead on lap 3. The top group included third placed Lammers, Mich 4th, Renaudie 5th and Hajek 6th.

Lammers took Abbasse to gain second position and threw himself into the pursuit of Iglesias. Abbasse soon yielded to the attack from Mich, then to Renaudie, now 5th. On lap 6, Lammers took control of the race ahead of Iglesias, Mich, Renaudie and Abbasse. This was the fight for the lead that engaged the attention of the spectators, just 1 tenth of a second separated the two Intrepid drivers. Renaudie was stuck to Mich with the fastest lap. Chaumat, in 8th, made a good passing move on Piccini.

Iglesias lost ground and Mich suddenly was able to take 2nd place. Lammers escaped by over 7 / 10. Iglesias was trying to regain his place from Mich and succeeded before losing it again and they were now under threat from Renaudie. In Sixth, De Brabander improved his times over the laps. Mich had to protect his position against Iglesias. On the last lap the place went to Iglesias to preserve his chances in the championship.

Great victory for Lammers, Iglesias second, Mich 3rd, Renaudie 4th and Abbasse 5th. The title will be decided between the two Intrepid drivers …
