The KZ2 drivers inaugurated the first heats this weekend for the European Championships at Varennes. The first race of the meeting was between groups D and E. Yan Pesce (Energy / TM) was challenged by the Polish driver Daniel Fuchs (Birel / TM) for 1st place, but reacted after the 3rd lap. Momentarily passed by Ryan Van Der Burgt (Tony Kart / TM), Fuchs soon recovered 2nd place. The Croatian Kristijan Habulin (CRG / Maxter) finished third ahead of Van Der Burgt and French driver Emilien Grosso (Intrepid / TM). Yan Pesce won the race, while championship leader Simone Brenna (TBKart / TM) was 17th.

Groups B and C were next to meet. Mathieu Gaillard (Energy / Maxter) missed his start and Yuri Lucati (BRM / TM) took the lead ahead of Cedric Goudant (Tony Kart / TM), but was soon passed by Jan Midrla (Birel / TM). Gaillard, in 7th, clocked the fastest lap time during his ascent. There was a hard duel between Lucati and Midrla, the third leading Oberg. The last round saw Lucati back in the lead ahead of Midrla and Gaillard who gave everything to reach 3rd.
