The rain decided to invite itself to the competition as the 1st KZ1 race entered the parc ferme for tire mounting, which is always better than the dummy grid … But the sky had been cloudy, heralding the changing conditions. Carefully, the grid girls sheltered their mini skirts under large umbrellas. The closest competitors were equipped, with foresight, with combination plastics, but all have wet tires. The grid was finally put in place under the echoes of distant thunder in a turbulent atmosphere. Some spun on the first parade lap. The rain had stopped but the track was still wet. The race director allowed three practice laps.

Bas Lammers made a perfect start, while Ben Hanley missed and lost places. Jeremy Iglesias led the 1st lap ahead of Lammers, Thomas Mich and Antonio Piccioni. Mich passed Lammers, and Anthony Abbasse was already 5th. Iglesias pulled away from Mich, already well detached from Piccioni, Abbasse and Hawksworth. On lap 4, Mich went wide at a hairpin, giving second to Piccioni, Hawksworth 3rd, then Mich 4th. Abbasse lost time and ended up 8th.

Iglesias pulled away insolently. Lammers renewed the attack, 4th behind Hawksworth, before falling to 10th position, with a bent frame. Hawksworth attacked Piccioni, and Alessandro Piccini came back strongly in 5th place, but his exhaust betrayed him. Abbasse was taken by Giulietti for 7th position.

At the halfway point, Iglesias was over 7 seconds ahead, and Hawksworth led the chasing pack, followed by Mich, Piccioni, Giulietti, and Abbasse. Piccioni went off again when his exhaust came off on lap 18. Abbasse took 5th while Manu Renaudie and Lammers fought to keep 6th from Verdi Geurts. On the last lap, the order didn’t change, as there were significant distances between the competitors.

It was an admirable victory for Jeremy Iglesias (Intrepid / TM) from Jack Hawksworth (Maddox / Parilla) and Thomas Mich (Birel / TM). Abbasse (Sodi / TM) moved into 4th place on the wire to the detriment of Piccioni (Parolin / SGM). Lammers 6th, Geurts 7th, Renaudie 8th, 9th Pex and 10th Van Meever.
