No, it is a new fad of the CIK intended to complicate the race. Quite the contrary! At the request of Laurent Arnaud, VOLA has developed a simple and ruthlessly efficient system. At a tight finish, which is a problem for transponder timing, this new process combines several roles. It is a program that runs a special camera recording 7000 lines per second continuously. The program reconstructs the images and all karts on the timing line, lap after lap until the finish time is measured at 10, 000th of a second, no less.

It thus becomes possible to verify the gaps between all drivers with indisputable accuracy, much greater than that of the transponders, which are sometimes subject to variations. The system can then determine any dispute over the result, and also compensate for any timing anomaly due to its reliability. It is fully autonomous and only requires someone to mmonitor it once it is started. So, it sounds as if it is a really good idea?
