After an endless series of winter tests, what could be better for the Sodi Racing Team than a challenging winter event in Lonato (I), i.e. the well-named Winter Cup (15th edition) that traditionally inaugurates the winter season? Under trying conditions for everybody, the team led by Nicola De Cola (Team Manager) was able to validate its racing procedures for 2010.

The French brand’s chassis proved their potential and confirmed the excellent impression left at the end of season 2009 against fierce world competition. Sodi karts were always the fastest among the karts equipped with IAME engines. Though a series of small problems delayed Sébastien Bailly in KF2, Pierre Gasly was regularly in the top 10 in KF3.

SRT had not come to the Winter Cup to achieve results at all cost, but rather to perform some important tests in racing conditions. On a soaking wet, mixed or totally dry track, all possible configurations were tested. Both the two top drivers of the team, Sébastien Bailly in KF2 and Pierre Gasly in KF3, and Alex Baron, on his debut in KF2, achieved their performance goals.

It was a very positive «chassis» assessment that came out of this weekend, where all possible racing conditions validated the course of development followed this winter. With several evolutions expected from its partner IAME – in which Sodikart has full confidence – the Sodi Racing Team believes that it could rapidly achieve its first victories of the season.
