Clement Da Silva (Intrepid / TM) made a super start in the KZ2 pre-final on the 1st day of the GPO in Lyon. Norman Nato (Intrepid / TM) took several laps to join his teammate and steal the lead. Yan Pesce (Energy / TM) securely held 3rd place, while Pierre Etienne Chaumat (Energy / Maxter) managed to overtake Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / Parilla) to gain 4th ahead of a group containing Thomas Mich (Birel / TM), Pierre Ragues (Sodi / Parilla) and Eric Ramon (Sodi / Parilla). Mathias Gallepe (Sodi / Maxter) and Tristan Papavoine (Birel / TM) clashed and dropped back.

The leading positions did not change despite sometimes volatile fighting. 9th place went to Stéphane Lefebvre (Tony Kart / TM) from Thomas Letailleur  (Mirage / TM), while Gallepe finally took 11th place.
