Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) chose to go to the outside in the prefinal to have better grip at the start. The race was run on slicks on a partially dry track. Anthony was flying in the lead, but Christophe Benoit (Birel / TM) braked late in the tight right. Pierre Ragues (Sodi / TM) occupied the 3rd, but Stephane Lefebvre (Tony Kart / TM) would soon rob him of it. Benoit was optimistic on the entry to a curve and put two wheels off the track, which dropped him to 4th place.

Norman Nato (Intrepid / TM) was well up from his 15th position. He quickly established himself in 7th place ahead of Eric Ramon (Sodi / TM) before experiencing a slight problem with engine power (because of a temperamental carburetor) so Ramon could return to 7th place. Mathias Gallepe (Sodi / Maxter) took the escape road and ended up at the back. For a while Lefebvre gave the impression of being able to challenge Abbasse, but only for a while and Anthony subsequently pulled out a wide gap all his pursuers. Mich closed on Benoit and managed to overtake. Lefebvre slowed the pace late in the race and 3, then 4 drivers closed up for the finish.

The positions did not however change before the checkered flag, with Abbasse winning a masterly race ahead of Lefebvre, Ragues, Mich and Benoit. Nato could not climb higher than 8th place, but Gallepe forced his way to 11th position.
