It was a magnificent victory for Brandon Maisano (LH / Vortex) in pre-final of the KF2 World Cup. Starting 12th on the grid, the French driver had already gained 5 places by the 1st lap. At the front, Matteo Viganò (Birel / Parilla) got away first, followed by Aniello Smarrazzo (Tony Kart / Vortex) while Felice Tiene (Kosmic / Vortex) held off Jacob Nortoft (FA Kart / Vortex ) and David Da Luz (Zanardi / Parilla). The battle raged between Vigano and Smarrazzo while Maïsano gradually gained places. On lap 5, Tiene joined the leaders and formed a trio, now with a slight gap.
In mid-race, Tiene took over the lead and Maïsano passed Smarrazzo. Vigano attempted an attack on Tiene but dropped back slightly. Maïsano took the opportunity to infiltrate into second position. Next the LH driver attacked the leader and found himself in front, almost in spite of himself! Maïsano got away immediately, while his 3 pursuers were heated until the finish line. Brandon Maïsano won the race by 1.3 seconds from Tiene, Smarrazzo and Vigano.
“I’d be content with 3rd place for the start of the final but I saw that I could take the lead without much difficulty, so I attacked. Of course the main pressure is now on my shoulders … “ Maïsano said immediately after the race.
Jordan Chamberlain (Tony Kart / Vortex) made up a few places, finishing 6th, while David Da Luz (Zanardi / Parilla) was 7th. Gilbert Mitchell (Kosmic / Vortex) was 9th. Michelle Gatting had a fine run before retiring after contact. Very fast on the track, Stoffel Vandoorne is recovered well. The best comeback, however, was that of Viktor Öberg. Loïc Réguillon (Sodi / Parilla) finished 20th ahead of Paul Loup Chatin in 21st.
