This was THE race of the weekend for KF2, since its outcome would deliver the European Championship in the category. The challenge was to cool the heat of the 34 contenders and, indeed, the start included a crash , which was hardly surprising. Tiene and Johansson lost their chances, which was not very fair, it must be acknowledged. Matteo Viganò (Birel / Parilla) was very solid in the lead. Jordan Chamberlain (Tony Kart / TM), which led the chasing pack composed of Andre Hauke (Birel / Parilla), Dylan Davies (Maranello / Maxter), Matteo Beretta (Tony Kart / Vortex), Yuri Grigorenko (Energy / TM), Stoffel Vandoorne (CRG / Maxter), Aniello Smarrazzo (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Chris Lock (Tony Kart / Vortex).
Vigano had a 2.5” advantage when the drivers were closed back up by the SLOW signs following an accident involving Maiken Rasmussen, who had to be evacuated. She was actually only slightly wounded in the arm. The race was restarted on lap 13, but Vigano kept the lead and pulled out a gap of several tenths, which made him immune to attacks. The pack turned green with the amount of Tony Kart chassis within. Chamberlain, Beretta, Cooper, Lock, Pescador, Smarrazzo, Bailly (who had recovered very quickly) and Camplese. Loïc Reguillon (Sodi / Parilla) drove a superb race under the encouragement of his fan club installed at the end of the straight.
Vigano crossed the line as the winner, believing the European title was in his pocket. But he was penalized by 9” for his excessive speed by 9 km / h at the start … This relegated him to 12th position and gave the title and victory to the British driver Jordan Chamberlain!
Matteo Beretta ranked second, Spaniard Jorge Pescador was 3rd to Ben Cooper, Sébastien Bailly and Loïc Reguillon in 6th.
