Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) did not give anything away to his young comrades in the KZ2. He made the best start and was immediately helped by a machine on top form. Jérémy Iglesias (Intrepid / TM) threatened Davide Fore (CRG / Maxter) for second. Paolo De Conto (Energy / TM) moved into fourth. Also, Norman Nato (Intrepid / TM) made a good start but after contact with the competition on the next lap fell back to 20th place.
There was a change in the hierarchy on lap 4. Ardigo still led, but Fore lost ground to Iglesias and De Conto, while Jonathan Thonon (CRG / Maxter) was threatening. And he soon confirmed this by taking 3rd position while second was now owned by Iglesias. This was on lap 8. One wonders whether De Conto would be able to attack Iglesias. Fore remained committed to his 5th place, ahead of Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) and Gary Catt (Tony Kart / Vortex).
The two leaders escaped, but Thonon did not stop trying the impossible. Ardigo won the pre-final with Iglesias 3rd, 4th De Conto and Foré 5th.
