And now three for Intrepid

There was a heavy atmosphere for the start of the 3rd and final heat at Wackersdorf in KZ1. First, confirming predictions from the French team, the rain began 5 minutes before the fateful hour. By the time the race started, the ugly black cloud was leaving the area. Then a major crash after Martin Frasnelli couldn’t start: a red flag followed and sheets were stretched by the German commissioners to hide the accident from the public … Martin fortunately had only broken his kart and went to the medical centre on foot to the applause of the crowd, who had been unnecessarily worried.

After these adventures, the race was finally started. Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) went off like a rocket from the front row he shared with his team-mate Norman Nato. Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter) was in their wake. Lammers widened the gap immediately while Koko threatened Nato. Bressan and Toninelli dropped off at the hairpins. The chasing pack was headed by Jérémy Iglesias (Intrepid / TM) 4th, then Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) 5th, Manu Renaudie (Gillard / SGM) 6th and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) 7th.

While Kozlinski was on Nato’s heels, to his delight Iglesias took 3rd position on lap 5. Intrepid now occupied the top 3 places in the race. Another threat came with the rise of the dazzling Dutchman Thomas Knopper (PCR / TM) who threatened and attacked Abbasse, Ardigo and Renaudie. The gaps stretched a bit in the top quartet, but the positions remained stable.

On lap 8, Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex) went off the track at the same place as his team-mate Bressan earlier, but managed to restart. Knopper continued his celebration, overtaking Ardigo and Renaudie to finish 5th. The top three was confirmed for Intrepid with victory for Bas Lammers ahead of Norman Nato and Jérémy Iglesias. The Italian make also won 3 qualifying rounds. In 4th Kozlinski was ahead of Knopper, then Ardigo 6th, Abbasse 7th, Renaudie 8th, Gallepe 9th ahead of Piccioni.
