Arriving in Germany at the Wackersdorf track, we already know that it will be one of the most intense events of the season. Looking at the KZ1 entry list we were impressed by the incredible achievements together in a single race. The KZ1 European Championship is more like a World Cup, taking place as a a single event after the cancellation of Mariembourg. From the youngest, Norman Nato, to the most experienced, Alessandro Piccini, the level of the field is exceptional. So that is the drivers.
With regard to the circuit, the opinions were unanimous in the paddock before the races started: the circuit is technically difficult, bumpy in places, but it the drivers were concerned about safety due to lack of drainage. On Friday afternoon, for example, a sudden downpour hit part of the site. The drivers came out fast on to a portion suddenly transformed into a skating rink … The result, a stack of karts and a driver hit, Sauro Cesetti. If the weather remains unsettled it will undoubtedly affect the competition, and the closeness of the margins could have unfortunate consequences. This is the general opinion of participants. We are looking for opinions … perhaps we will find them on Sunday evening by the podium.
ProKart, the owner of the site, has done most things very well. The organization bears the mark of German seriousness, and the site has evolved to meet the CIK standards. It is not typical of the circuits currently used by the Karting Circus, but it is a very interesting track with track like the old style venues, where the racing is about to start.
